Julius Rosin is anokher employee who came to us "just off the boar', this one from Germany. Although he was born in Poland, he became a German at the age of 10; he i'l;in't go to Germany, Germany came to him (?e Germans took over his part of Poland). He finished school and was apprenticed to a watchmaker for 3% years until he was drafted into the army. After they dis- charged him, he finished the war working for the Telefunken Company in the electronics deparbnent. At the end of the war when he was free to do as he pleased, he went to work for the Voglender CameraCompany until an uncle in Richmond sponsored him to come to the U. S. As an electronic technician in our Electronics Departient, and because of his experience as a watchmaker, Julius is our authority on delicate jobs. He also knows about all of our Resistance Thermom- eters and Probes. In his spare time, Julius enjoys baseball and the outdoors. He has a motor boat and trailer house and spends weekends and vacation camping with his family. He also tinkers with watchmaking and repairs watches in his shop at home. The Rosins live in Richmond and have two sons ages 20 and 16.

TEN YEAR EMPLOYEE:

It all started in 1953, when KEH needed someone to organize a sales department, so he phoned Herman Held, a manufacturer's representative in San Francisco. You guessed it, E. F. Schimbor was assigned to the detail. His first office was an unfinished storeroom that he (all alone) soon had remodeled with paint, nails, wood and work. We bought him a desk and the Sales Department was on its

way. He wrote up brochures on our instruments we then manufactured, typed them up and ran them off on his "ditto*' machine. He then found people to act as our sales representa- tives located near oil refineries and arranged for them to represent us. Orders started coming in! Fifteen years of successful operations have proved that Mr. Schimbor knew what he was doing. He was well prepared for the job with his education in chemical engi- neering and 25 years of technical sales ex- perience. In September of 1957, it became evident that we needed his services full time, so we lured him away from his other job and hired him a secretary. As Vice President and Sales Manager of the Company, he now maintains contact with our sales representatives in the United States, Canada and Overseas, answers all his corres- pondence imediately (just ask Judy), keeps Hallikainen Instruments Ltd. in England ad- vised of new foreign business, has a secre- tary, an applications engineer working full time processing the work he turns out, two salesmen (one for Northern, and one for Southern California), serves on the board of directors and keeps our parking lot in order, Mr. Schimbor enjoys golf, baseball and spends much of his time landscaping his home in Novato. He and his wife have two married sons, Dick and Mark.

The SheratoniPalace Hotel in downtown San Francisco was the location of this year's Instrumentation Symposium sponsored by the Instrument Society of America (ISA), Northern California Section. This symposium, which ran on May 20, 21 and 22, allowed instru- mentation companies to exhibit and introduce their products to users and possible customers who attended the gathering. The symposium also consisted of oral presentation of tech- nical papers relating to the advancement of the state-of-the-art in instrumentation which were presented by local professional people. These papers ranged from "Electrohydraulic Actuator@ to "Secondary Electron Spectroscopy1 and ran for three days. Hallikainen Instruments participated in the exhibit by displaying the gravitrol and an assortment of rotameters. E. F. Schimbor, J. Vall~.and D. Freeman were on hand to demonstrate and answer questions about our equipment.
